We have Bible study classes for all age groups that offer many options such as couples' classes, men's and women's classes. Classes meet at 8:00 am (adults only), 9:15am and 10:30am each Sunday.
LIFEgroups
LIFEgroups are small bible study groups. From 5:00 pm to 6:15 pm each Sunday, we conduct a training time for all Christians. We have many different classes for people to participate in as they grow in Christ. New classes & registration are held each Fall & Spring. Classes do not meet during the summer months.
Wednesday Evening Suppers
Each Wednesday, with the exception of the summer months, we provide a meal at 5:00 pm, so that families can come without having to worry about preparing supper. Supper is followed by Adult Bible Study/Prayer Meeting, Adult Choir Practice, Youth Group and Awana.
Music
We have an adult choir, praise band, children’s choir, preschool choir, youth choir and a handbell choir. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord."
Evangelistic Events
Each year we plan events to reach new people for Christ and His church. Our biggest event is the annual Christmas drama This Man Called Jesus which draws approximately 30,000 people each Christmas season. Other events include revivals, missions trips, Vacation Bible School, Music Camps, Fall Festival, Ladies’ Night Out and an annual Men’s Wildlife Supper.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer we have Vacation Bible School for school-aged children. VBS is an intense week of games, crafts, exciting Bible study and refreshments centered around a certain theme.
Prayer Ministry
We believe that prayer unlocks the power of God in our lives and in our church. Our prayer ministry prays for the needs of the people. The telephone number for our prayer line is 356-4304. During the worship service, you may complete the prayer request portion of your bulletin and place it in the offering plate when it is passed. A vital part of our prayer ministry is our prayer room located in the Adult Education Center.
Drama
Drama plays a large part in the ministry of our church. We include many people in worship through dramatic vignettes on Sundays. The largest dramatic presentation that we conduct each year is our Christmas drama, This Man Called Jesus. This drama is approximately two hours in length which takes you from the prophecies of Christ’s coming through the Great Commission of Christ. We conduct this drama during the first three weekends of December. We perform special presentations which emphasize our non-hearing friends, military and our biker friends. These presentations involve over 300 people in the portrayal of the life and message of our Lord. If you would like more information about this tremendous dramatic presentation, you may log on to our website or call 803-356-3334.
Library/Media Center
Our center is located in the Adult Education Center. It is open before Sunday School and on Wednesday evenings. We have the latest Christian materials to check-out.
Singles Ministry
Our singles program offers various events and retreats during the year to those single individuals in our church.
Women’s Ministry
This ministry conducts quarterly programs for the women of our church. They also plan retreats throughout the year. There are opportunities for Outreach ministry as well, including Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center and ministering in nursing homes. Inreach Ministry opportunities include helping women within the church through crisis situations as well as helping out with illnesses or hospitalization.
Recreation
Our purpose for the recreation ministry is to reach the unreached for Christ and to build relationships. Softball season is from April to July. We have an Upward Basketball Program for boys and girls aged kindergarten through 6th grade. It runs from January to March.
AWANA
During the school year, our preschoolers through 5th grade meet for AWANA on Wednesday nights. This program combines recreation with Bible Study. AWANA is held from 6:15 pm until 7:45 pm.
Weekday Preschool Ministry
Our church conducts a weekday preschool ministry. This ministry provides classes for children ages 2-4 and meets from 9:00 am-2:00 pm Monday through Thursday. For more information on this ministry, call 803- 957-1435.
Youth Ministries
Our youth ministry seeks to reach and to win youth grades 6-12 to faith in Christ and to lead them to be His faithful followers. We seek to lead them to share Jesus Christ everywhere they go. We emphasize what they can become by walking with Jesus and what they are to do for Jesus. Besides Bible study groups that meet on Sundays at 9:45 am, we also provide an ongoing discipleship process each Sunday evening at 5:00 pm entitled LIFEgroups, a rally-type event on Wednesdays, annual events such as retreats, fellowship and music-related experiences. Our goal is to have one of the greatest student ministries in our state.
Missions Involvement and Education
We believe missions are very important at Lake Murray Baptist. We support the cooperative program which sends 5,000 missionaries around the world and over 4,000 missionaries in our country. We not only support international and national missions, we are also involved in our area through associational missions, where we cooperate with other Southern Baptist churches. We also have short-term mission trips each year.
